Admission Procedure

Waiting List

New students can register on the admissions waiting list page.  Waiting list signups begin in August and will end in February. Please see the admissions waiting list page for additional details, dates and the link to the waiting list form.

Pre-School Requirements:

  1. The child must be at least 3 years old on or before the first day of school for the 3 Year Old Pre-School program, or 4 years old on or before the first day of school for the 4 Year Old Pre-School program.
  2. The child MUST be potty trained.  No pull-ups.

Registration for Pre-School:

  1. Registration forms completed and registration fee paid.
  2. Furnish to Hillander along with the registration forms and preschool packet:
    1. Immunization record
    2. Birth certificate

Admission Procedure for Kindergarten

Kindergarten requirements:

  1. The child must be at least 5 years old on or before the first day of school.
  2. The child MUST be potty trained.

Children who have attended Four Year Old Pre-School for the entire year will be given priority to Kindergarten. Any remaining vacant positions will be filled with siblings of current students who can successfully interview/test with the administration. We will then call our waiting list and schedule interviews/tests for any remaining positions.

Admission Procedure for First through Sixth Grade

First through Sixth Grade Requirements:

  1. The child must have attended and successfully completed Kindergarten.
  2. The child must complete an interview and test successfully according to grade level.

First through Sixth Grade Placement Policy:

All children in the Kindergarten program will be given priority for registration in First Grade. Children who have siblings currently enrolled will be given second priority following a successful interview with administration. The waiting list will then be reviewed and children will be called in for interview for any remaining positions. Each August a new waiting list begins.  If a student did not make it into a class at Hillander the previous year, the parent MUST fill a new waiting list application.
